CS Sponsored/Volunteered at the Thanksgiving Houston Superfeast November 27, 2008
CommonSource was a major sponsor at the Thanksgiving Houston Superfeast on November 27, 2008. Shannon Reed, CS Chief Operations Officer, was actively involved on the organization committee. The CS staff was very excited to have the opportunity to volunteer at this event which served between 17,000 and 22,000 people. Houstonians enjoyed a free Thanksgiving Day meal thanks to the generosity of others. The Superfeast was originally set up for the homeless and less fortunate. Anyone who was in need of a place to spend Thanksgiving Day was welcomed at this Thanksgiving feast. Officials said the Superfeast served 8,500 pounds of turkey, 4,000 pounds of dressing, 400 gallons of gravy, 4,000 pounds of whole cranberries, 4,000 pounds of green beans, 4,000 pounds of corn, more than 24,000 servings of cakes and pies.
